OVERVIEW
The name of the lodge says it all. This waterfront lodge sits on the banks of the Arroyo Colorado river. It is perfectly situated midway between Port Mansfield, Texas and Port Isabel, Texas. From the lodge, the river leads right into the Lower Laguna Madre Estuary, nearly 270 square miles of flats with an average depth of only 24 to 30 inches! The flats are so consistent, we like to say its like fishing on a flooded golf course. The barrier island of Padre and South Padre close off the flats to the east, giving this entire area the perfect habitat for trophy redfish and “gator” speckled trout. The sight fishing here for both redfish and “specks” is some the finest anywhere in the world. The flats stretch for endless miles with white sand, potholes, skinny-water bays and grass flats and amazingly clear water.
