OVERVIEW

Kamalame Cay (pronounced: kuh-mol-a-may kee) is certainly the premiere bonefishing destination in the Bahamas.  If you desire the finest service, accommodations, amenities and lodging, all the while coupled with some of the most pristine and uncrowded flats anywhere, this is the location.  Kamalame has taken Caribbean flats fishing to a whole new level.  Located on the northeast side of Andros Island, this private island of 96 acres has everything for the serious anglers and non-anglers alike.  This private barrier island is only accessible by ferry or seaplane.  Luxurious grounds and stunning private villas situated near azure flats and white sand is the perfect setting for families, couples and corporate groups.  Kamalame Cay is the perfect choice for guests who value elegance, adventure, privacy, and the romance of a unique Caribbean experience.

FISHING

Andros Island is home to world-class bonefishing and Kamalame is fortunate to be able to offer two distinct fisheries. There is abundant water with excellent bonefishing right on the backside of the Cay, as well as in the nearby creeks and flats stretching all the way to Majestic Point. They also offer access to the Joulter Cays with their seemingly endless wadeable flats and large schools of tailing bonefish. The Joulters lie at the north end of Andros (a short drive from Kamalame).
Andros is renowned for having the largest bonefish in the Bahamas. Fish averaging a solid 4 pounds to many in the 9-plus pound class are encountered while even larger bones work the edges of the flats. There is an honest opportunity to see and (hopefully!) catch bonefish weighing in the double digit category -- a thrill for any flats angler.

Seasoned guides using Maverick flats skiffs with poling platforms will meet anglers each day either at the Cay to fish the local waters or at the north end of Andros to fish The Joulters.

Nearby and just a short drive is Red Bays.  Here anglers can challenge themselves to some of the largest trophy bonefish found in the Bahamas.  This west side of Andros also has some of the best tarpon fishing found on Andros Island.  If you want to stay close to the lodge and have friends and family nearby, you can always wade the Davis Creek flats within sight of your villa.  This sweeping “home flat” is very productive on the right tides and certainly will keep your skills honed to perfection.

Offshore angling offers a unique and different experience from the flats and can be considered a bit less intense.  That is until you hook into some of the fabled pelagic species and you feel hundreds of yards of line peeling off your reel.

TARGET SPECIES

Bonefish are the primary target with some Tarpon, Permit, Barracuda, Shark, and a host of pelagic Bluewater species including Wahoo, Tuna, Dorado, King Mackerel and Grouper all virtually within sight of the lodge.

ACCOMMODATIONS

It is hard to imagine a Resort/Retreat with such attention to detail and comfort.  The property has all trademark nuances of a professionally decorated interior.  The Ritz-Carlton would be envious.  Accommodations here are so luxurious that you almost forget to go outside for the splendor that nature provides.  In a nutshell the resort has two deluxe villas, each appointed with private entrances, 2 bedrooms, oversized bathrooms with showers and soaking tubs, private patios, wet-bars, spacious living rooms, ceiling fans, air conditioning, walk-in closets and lots of local color.

Do you want to hide away like a Rock Star and still catch bonefish?  Check out the description of the Kamalame Cove Villa on the link below.  It is beyond compare.

There are also 6 beautiful cottage suites with one large bedroom, private baths with soaking tubs, french doors to complete the seaside experience and invite the ocean breezes.  These cottage suites are designed for privacy and comfort.

The Anglers Nest suites are also available and offer the closest availability to the amenities that the resort and spa offer.  These unique cottages overlook the marina and guests can relax in one bedroom luxury and well-appointed bathrooms.

The “Great House” is the heart of the resort.  Built with a true 19th century British tradition, this is a natural gathering place for cocktails, fish tales, hors d’oeuvres and general revelry.  The Great House is decorated with unique and curious artifacts, art and some of the most comfortable furniture anywhere in the Bahamas.  A virtual wrap-around veranda is the perfect location to sip wine and soak in all the panoramic views and sensations.
